The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has made key changes to the CA Final Exam eligibility for 2025. 3-Year Articleship Now Mandatory for CA Final Exam 2025, Says ICAI

Three years of articleship training has now been made mandatory for the CA final exam. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has issued an important update clarifying that students will have to complete three years of uninterrupted articleship training to appear for the final examination from September 2025. This rule must be completed without any additional leave until August 31 or earlier.

Also, it has been made mandatory for the candidates to change from the final (old course) to the final (new course). Along with this, they will also have to complete advanced IT courses and soft skills courses. It will also be necessary to complete the Advanced ICITSS course before appearing in the exam.

For the evaluation of candidates, ICAI has launched the self-paced module test portal, where test sets A, B, C and D have been made available to complete the respective online modules. All this has to be completed within the stipulated time. The link to the portal is: https: / /spmt.icai.org

In May 2025, CA Intermediate Group 1 exams will be held on 3, 5 and 7, while Group 2 exams will be held on 9, 11 and 14. The final Group 1 exams will be held on 2, 4 and 6 and Group 2 exams will be held on 8, 10 and 13.

Along with this, post-qualification course exams such as International Taxation Assessment Test will be held on 8 and 10. These exams will be held only for the members of ICAI. The exam will be conducted from 2 am to 5 pm at various centres across India.

This decision has been taken by ICAI with an aim to ensure the quality of the final examination and the merit of the students. It will be mandatory for all such students who are preparing for the final examination to follow these new rules.
