CBSE has used its official X account to fact-check and call out a fake circular in circulation. At the same time, the Board has asked schools, teachers, students, and parents to rely only on official notifications.
The genuine communication is Circular No. Acad-60/2025, dated 21 August 2025, announcing the CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2025 with the theme “Heritage through Vibrant Festivals of India.” The quiz aims to promote awareness and appreciation of India’s diverse cultural heritage and traditional knowledge systems among school students.
According to the circular, schools must complete online registration through the official CBSE portals using their affiliation credentials. The quiz will run in three stages. Stage 1 is an online test in October 2025: a 50-minute computer-based exam with 60 MCQs.
Each school will field one team of three students from Classes IX–XII. There is no negative marking; in the event of a tie, the team that finishes sooner will rank higher. From every cluster, top six teams will qualify for the next stage, and results will be published on the CBSE Academic website.
Stage 2 is the Cluster Round in November 2025, conducted online by video conferencing. The winning team from each cluster will move to Delhi for the semi-finals. Stage 3 comprises the National Semi-finals and Final in December 2025 in Delhi.
The qualified teams from clusters will be grouped into four, and each group winner will advance to the National Final. Dates for the semi-finals and final will be posted on the CBSE website to help teams plan travel and stay. Participation is open to all CBSE-affiliated schools in India and abroad.
Schools should ensure seamless broadband connectivity in the computer lab on the test day and keep a backup PC with UPS and internet ready. The last date for online registration is 30 September 2025, and the fee is ₹1,500 per team, payable only through the integrated payment gateway; requests by mail or post will not be accepted.
Once registration is complete, requests to change team members will not be entertained. All communications will go to the e-mail ID used during registration.
All semi-final and final participants will receive Merit Certificates. Prizes include ₹25,000 plus a rolling trophy for first, ₹15,000 for second, ₹10,000 for third, ₹8,000 for fourth, and graded cash awards for semi-final positions.
