CBSE Promotes Tax Awareness Among Students Through Income Tax Department Comic Series
New Delhi, October 29, 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a new initiative to promote tax awareness among school children through a series of engaging comic books developed by the Directorate of Income Tax.
The eight-part comic series, published by the Directorate of Public Relations, Publication & Publicity, Directorate of Income Tax, features popular cartoon characters Motu and Patlu and is part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
According to the circular (No: CBSE/Secy/C./2025, dated 28.10.2025), the comics aim to make tax literacy fun and relatable for young learners while highlighting the importance of income tax in nation-building and responsible citizenship.
The comic series is available free of cost and in multiple Indian languages on the official Income Tax Department website: https://incometaxindia.gov.in/Pages/comic-books.aspx
CBSE has encouraged all affiliated schools to share this resource widely among students, teachers, and parents, and to consider integrating the content into their awareness and co-curricular activities.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to nurture financial awareness, civic responsibility, and informed citizenship from an early age.
