CBSE announces 2026–27 curriculum release dates for Classes IX–XII, including NCF-2023 changes and new academic guidelines for schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the updated curriculum for Classes 11 and 12 for the academic session 2026–27. The curriculum for Classes 9 and 10 will be released tomorrow, April 2, at 3 PM.

This update is important for students preparing for the 2027 Board Exams, as it marks the beginning of their academic planning. The complete syllabus, including subjects, chapters, topics, and marking scheme, is now available on the CBSE Academic Portal.

Understanding the syllabus early helps students plan their studies better, focus on important topics, and manage their time effectively. Getting started with the right information is the first step toward success in board exams.

According to the official notification, the curriculum for Classes XI and XII will be released on April 1, 2026. Meanwhile, the curriculum for Classes IX and X will be released a day later, on April 2, 2026.

CBSE has stated that it is implementing the scheme of studies recommended in the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-2023) in Class IX from the current year. In line with this, a special webinar will be conducted to explain the revised scheme of studies and other changes outlined in the initial section of the Secondary Curriculum Part-I (2026–27).

The webinar is scheduled to take place on April 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the CBSE Headquarters, Integrated Office Complex, Sector-23, Dwarka. It will also be accessible online via a live streaming link provided by the Board.

CBSE has further informed that the complete curriculum documents for Classes IX–XII will be made available on the CBSE Academic Portal under the “Curriculum 2026–27” section. All affiliated schools have been instructed to download the full curriculum, including introductory guidelines, and circulate it among teachers and students for immediate use.

Steps to Download CBSE Syllabus 2025-26

Students and teachers can download the syllabus PDF for all the subjects by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at cbseacademic.nic.in.
  • Step 2: Click on the section labelled “Curriculum.”
  • Step 3: Click on the link or tab mentioning “Curriculum 2024-25.”
  • Step 4: Download the CBSE Class 10th, 12th Syllabus 2025-26 PDF.

Schools are also advised to ensure proper implementation of the updated curriculum by adhering strictly to the prescribed guidelines. The Board emphasized that the revised curriculum aligns with the principles of NCF-2023, focusing on competency-based education, experiential learning, flexibility, and holistic student development.
