Five-Day Training Programme Will Help Participants Understand Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and Developmental Aphasia
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has invited registrations for a free five-day online training programme titled “Beyond Labels: Understanding 5Ds”. The training programme will focus on Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, and Developmental Aphasia, which are among the most common Specific Learning Disabilities (SLDs) affecting children.
The training will run from 15 June to 19 June 2026 and will remain open to anyone interested in learning about Specific Learning Disabilities. Participants who score 70% or more in the online quiz will receive an e-Certificate from NCERT.
What Is the NCERT “Beyond Labels: Understanding 5Ds” Training Programme?
NCERT has designed this programme to increase awareness and understanding of Specific Learning Disabilities among teachers, parents, school leaders, students, and community members.
The programme aims to help participants identify early signs of learning disabilities, understand the challenges faced by children and families, and promote inclusive learning environments.
The training also supports the goals of important educational and disability-related policies, including the UNCRPD 2006, RTE Act 2009, RPWD Act 2016, NEP 2020, and inclusive education initiatives under Samagra Shiksha.
Why Is This Training Programme Important?
Many children with learning disabilities struggle in classrooms because people often fail to identify their needs early. NCERT aims to bridge this awareness gap through this programme.
The training will help participants understand how children with Specific Learning Disabilities learn differently. It will also promote empathy, dignity, inclusion, and equitable educational opportunities for all learners.
What Are the Objectives of the NCERT 5Ds Training?
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Understand the meaning and characteristics of Specific Learning Disabilities.
- Identify early signs of Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, and Developmental Aphasia.
- Understand the emotional, academic, and social challenges faced by children and families.
- Develop empathy and positive attitudes towards children with SLD.
- Learn practical classroom strategies for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Promote awareness and reduce stigma related to learning disabilities.
Who Can Participate in the NCERT Training Programme?
NCERT has made the programme open to everyone.
Anyone interested in understanding Specific Learning Disabilities can participate. No prior experience, qualification, or professional background is required.
