NCERT Expands Distribution Network to Ensure Easy Access to New NEP 2020 Textbooks
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has assured students, parents, and schools that it is taking all necessary steps to ensure the smooth availability of its new textbooks across the country.
The council said it is supplying books through its vendor network, NCERT sales counters, online sales portal, e-commerce platforms, and newly established Strategic Distribution Centres in partnership with the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC).
NCERT stated that the new textbooks are based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and are being published in a phased manner as part of the transition to the new curriculum.
How Is NCERT Distributing the New Textbooks?
NCERT has strengthened its distribution system to make textbooks available to students in different regions of the country. Students and schools can obtain books through authorized vendors, NCERT’s own sales counters, the official online sales portal, various e-commerce platforms, and the newly created Strategic Distribution Centres.
The council said these measures will help improve textbook availability and support students during the transition to the new curriculum.
What Is the Status of Grade 9 Textbooks?
NCERT has informed that it has already published and distributed more than 90 lakh Grade 9 textbooks covering nine subjects. According to the council, these books are available across the country.
The only exception is the Social Science textbook, which is currently in the final stage of preparation. NCERT said the book is almost print-ready and will be released very soon.
Why Are Some Areas Facing Supply Gaps?
NCERT explained that the shift to the new curriculum may sometimes create temporary and localized supply gaps in certain areas. The council emphasized that these shortages are not widespread and may occur only during the transition period.
The organization is continuously monitoring the supply situation and increasing production and distribution wherever needed.
What Has NCERT Said About Textbook Availability?
NCERT has reassured students, parents, and schools that it remains committed to ensuring the availability of textbooks across the country. The council said it is closely tracking demand and regularly augmenting supplies to prevent shortages and support uninterrupted learning.
With the rollout of the NEP 2020-based curriculum, NCERT expects textbook availability to improve further as additional books are published and distributed in the coming months.
