NCERT and Sense International India Launch Five-Day Online Training Programme on “Exploring Deafblindness: Empowering Societies”
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in collaboration with Sense International India, has invited registrations for a free five-day online training programme titled “Exploring Deafblindness: Empowering Societies.” The programme will run from 29 June to 3 July 2026 and aims to build awareness about deafblindness among educators, caregivers, students, parents, and the general public.
The training aligns with DeafBlind Awareness Week and Helen Keller Day. Participants will learn about communication strategies, inclusive education, assistive technologies, skill development, and support systems for individuals with deafblindness.
What Is Deafblindness and Why Is This Training Important?
Deafblindness is a unique disability that combines both hearing and visual impairments. Since most human learning takes place through seeing and hearing, individuals with deafblindness often face significant challenges in communication, mobility, education, and access to information.
NCERT and Sense International India have designed this programme to increase awareness and promote inclusion by helping participants understand the needs, strengths, and potential of individuals with deafblindness.

Anyone interested in learning about deafblindness can participate in the programme. No prior experience or special qualification is required.

How Can Participants Get the Participation Certificate?
Participants must complete the online quiz after the training programme.
An e-Certificate will be awarded to participants who score 70% or above in the quiz. Only one attempt will be allowed.
