CIET NCERT will conduct a five day online training on digital teacher skills AI and professional practices from August 17 to 21 2026.
CIET-NCERT will organise an online training programme titled “Digital Teacher: Evolving Competencies, Professional Identity and Practices” from 17 to 21 August 2026. The programme will focus on the changing role of teachers in digital learning environments. It will also cover AI and emerging technologies. The training will help teachers understand how digital tools can support learner-centred and competency-based education.
What will the Digital Teacher training cover?
The programme connects with the vision of NEP 2020 for continuous professional development. NEP 2020 highlights the need for teachers to learn new pedagogical approaches and use technology-enabled platforms and online programmes for professional growth.
The training will also focus on the changing competencies of teachers. Digital competency goes beyond the basic use of technology. It includes digital content creation. It also includes communication. It includes collaboration. It covers assessment and data-informed decision-making. It also focuses on ethical technology use and reflective professional practice.
The programme will explore how technology is changing the professional identity of teachers. It will focus on the role of teachers as facilitators. Teachers will also explore their roles as mentors. They will learn about designing learning experiences and becoming reflective practitioners and lifelong learners.
What are the objectives of the training?
The training will help participants understand the vision of NEP 2020 for teachers and its impact on teacher roles and competencies.
Participants will explore the changing dimensions of teacher autonomy and professional identity in digital learning environments.
The programme will help teachers examine the impact of AI and emerging technologies on teaching practices. They will also identify the competencies needed for meaningful technology integration.
Participants will learn about teachers as prosumers in digital learning environments. They will explore how teachers can create and share digital learning resources.
The training will also introduce technology-enabled opportunities for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
Participants will learn principles for ethical and responsible technology integration. The programme will focus on using technology to support inclusive and learner-centred education.

When will the five-day sessions take place?
The live training will run from 17 August to 21 August 2026. Each day will focus on a different theme.

Who will conduct the sessions?
Prof. Sharad Sinha will conduct the first session on Teacher in the Lens of NEP 2020.
Dr. Biju K will conduct the second session on Teacher Autonomy and Professional Identity in the Digital Ecosystem.
Dr. Anusha Ramanathan will conduct the third session on Teaching in the Age of AI and Evolving Teacher Competencies.
Dr. Sameer Babu will conduct the fourth session on Teachers as Prosumer in Digital Learning Environment.
Dr. Angel Rathnabai S. will conduct the fifth session on Technology-Enabled Continuous Professional Development.
Where can learners watch the live sessions?
- The training will run live on the NCERT Official YouTube Channel.
- The sessions will also run on PM e-Vidya DTH TV Channels 6–12.
- The live sessions will run from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Learners can also watch the sessions through DD Free Dish. They can use DISH TV Channels 2027–2033. They can also watch them through the Jio TV mobile app.
Recorded sessions will remain available through a dedicated YouTube playlist.
When will course enrolment open?
- The live sessions will take place from 17 to 21 August 2026.
- The online course enrolment will open on 22 August 2026.
- Learners can enrol until 10 March 2027.
- The course will close on 15 March 2027.
How can learners attend without seeking a certificate?
Learners who only want to attend the live sessions can watch them on the NCERT Official YouTube Channel or the PM e-Vidya DTH TV channels.
- They can interact with the experts during the live sessions.
- Learners can also watch the recorded sessions through the dedicated YouTube playlist.
How can learners earn the digital certificate?
Learners who want a certificate must join the online course through DIKSHA.
First they must register on DIKSHA. They must link their APAAR ID and DigiLocker ID with their DIKSHA account.
- Learners who have already completed this step can skip it.
- Next they must join the online course through the course link.
- After joining the course learners must watch the videos provided in the course.
They must also complete all activities. These activities can include discussion forums. They can also include interactive activities and assignments.
- Learners must then take the final assessment. They can attempt the assessment up to three times.
- A learner must score 70% or above to qualify for the certificate.
- Learners who do not score 70% or above within three attempts will not qualify for the certificate.
Learners who complete all the required conditions will receive the digital certificate. They can access it from their profile page. They can also access the certificate through DigiLocker.

The live sessions are open to learners who want to attend the sessions. However, those seeking the CPD certificate must enrol in the DIKSHA course and complete the prescribed requirements, including the final assessment with at least 70% marks.
