CBSE Urges Schools to Encourage Student Participation in IIT Delhi–AIIMS ‘Anastomosis’ Innovation Programme
CBSE has issued a new notification encouraging all affiliated schools to inform and motivate students to participate in “Anastomosis”, a collaborative academic and innovation programme jointly organised by IIT Delhi and AIIMS New Delhi.
The initiative aims to give school students early exposure to interdisciplinary learning, research culture, and real-world innovation across engineering, medical sciences, technology, and entrepreneurship. According to the circular, registration for the programme is open until December 31, 2025.
What is the purpose of the ‘Anastomosis’ programme?
The programme has been designed to inspire students to think creatively, explore new ideas, and gain an understanding of how innovation takes shape in India’s leading institutions. It introduces learners to perspectives from engineering, healthcare, biotechnology, design thinking, and entrepreneurship.
CBSE noted that participation in such initiatives nurtures scientific curiosity, strengthens analytical ability, and helps students explore emerging career paths.
Who can participate in this initiative?
The programme is open to students from Classes 8 to 12, divided into two tracks—the Junior Track for Classes 8–10 and the Senior Track for Classes 11–12. CBSE has asked schools to share the information widely so that students with an interest in STEM, research, healthcare, and innovation can join voluntarily.
How is the Anastomosis programme structured?
The initiative will begin with online registration, followed by orientation seminars conducted by experts from IIT Delhi, AIIMS, and the startup ecosystem. These sessions will provide an introduction to innovation, design thinking, biotechnology, and entrepreneurial skills.
After the seminars, students will participate in a national-level quiz assessing their understanding of mathematics, science, and entrepreneurship. Top performers will be shortlisted for the final phase.
