CBSE opens online forms for Class 10 and 12 private candidates for 2025–26 exams. Apply from 9 Sept 2025. Check eligibility, dates, and rules here.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has released two important notices for private candidates of Class X and Class XII. The Board will hold these exams in February, March, and April 2026, along with the regular main examinations.
From 9 September 2025, students can fill their forms online. The link is available on the CBSE website under “व्यक्तिगत परीक्षार्थी”. CBSE has asked parents and candidates to read the annexures carefully before applying.
Who Can Apply for Class XII?
- Students of session 2024–25 declared Essential Repeat in 2025.
- Students placed in Compartment in 2025 Main or Supplementary exams.
- Students declared Fail/Essential Repeat in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
- Students who passed in 2024–25 but want to improve performance in one or more subjects.
Who Can Apply for Class X?
- Students of session 2024–25 declared Essential Repeat in 2025.
- Students placed in Compartment in 2025 Main or Supplementary exams.
- Students declared Fail/Essential Repeat in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
- Students who passed in 2025 but want to improve performance in one or more subjects.
CBSE said that both Class X and XII exams will be conducted as per the 2026 syllabus available on the CBSE Academic website.
Important Rules for Forms
The process is completely online.
- Forms and fees must be submitted within the given schedule.
- No offline forms will be accepted.
- Applications without fees will be rejected.
- Fees can be paid only by Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.
- CBSE will not accept DD, Postal Order, Money Order, or cheques.
After submission, candidates can download a copy of their form. They can also make corrections, including subject and centre, up to the last date.
Details for Students
- For students who appeared in 2025 exams, details will appear automatically in the portal.
- Students from 2024 or earlier must correctly enter details like Roll Number and Year of Passing.
- Wrong entries or false documents will lead to rejection. The fee will not be refunded.
CBSE has warned that cyber café errors will not be accepted. Students should fill the form themselves. Submitting a form and paying fees alone does not confirm eligibility. Eligibility will be checked as per Board rules.
Exam Centres and Undertaking
Candidates must choose their city of examination carefully. Once allotted, it cannot be changed. An undertaking about this must be submitted with the application.
The Board has also made it clear that no hard copy of the form needs to be sent to CBSE.
Concessions for CwSN Students
CBSE will continue to give exemptions and concessions for Children with Special Needs (CwSN), as defined under the RPwD Act 2016. Students must upload their disability certificate to receive these facilities. Those who availed them earlier will get the same concessions this time.
