CBSE Sets 31 August as Final Date for Subject Change Applications in Classes 10 and 12
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important notification for Classes 10 and 12 regarding direct admissions and subject change matters. The board has clearly stated that the last date for all such applications is 31 August 2025. After this date, no new applications of any kind will be accepted.
According to the directions, schools must carefully prepare separate records for each case and send them with supporting documents to the regional office by 2 September 2025. The regional offices will then complete the scrutiny of all such cases by 15 September 2025.
CBSE has further explained that requests for direct admission or subject change will not be accepted after the 31 August deadline. The board has stressed that this step is necessary to maintain transparency in examinations and ensure that students face no inconvenience during the process.
Alongside this, CBSE has also announced that schools will have to send monthly counseling reports. Hub school counselors will work with spoke school counselors to carry out activities each month.
All participating schools will prepare reports and submit them to their respective hub schools. Later, hub schools will consolidate these reports and send them to CBSE by the 5th of every month. This system aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of counseling services.
CBSE Issues Guidelines for Counseling Hub and Spoke Model
In addition, CBSE has issued detailed guidelines for strengthening psychosocial support systems in schools. The board has introduced the Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model, which seeks to increase access to counseling services and build institutional capacity.
Through this model, CBSE aims to ensure that students receive timely support while schools and teachers gain a structured framework for counseling activities. The board has highlighted that the role of school heads and counselors will be central to implementing this model effectively.
