Govt Launches Essay Contest on Operation Sindoor for Independence Day 2025
New Delhi, 8 June 2025 – As part of the Independence Day Celebrations 2025, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with MyGov, has announced a national-level essay competition titled “Operation Sindoor – Redefining India’s Policy Against Terrorism.” This initiative aims to engage citizens in meaningful discourse on national security and India’s evolving counter-terrorism strategy.
The competition invites young writers and passionate citizens across India to reflect on the strategic, cultural, and symbolic importance of Operation Sindoor. The theme encourages participants to explore how the operation signifies a bold shift in India’s defence policy, demonstrating resilience, unity, and a proactive approach to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
Participants are encouraged to write essays that touch upon core themes such as redefining national security, the importance of youth involvement, unity in diversity, and India’s commitment to strategic and cultural solidarity. Submissions can be made in either Hindi or English, and must fall within the 500–600 word limit.
Awards and Recognition

Top three winners will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 each.

Top 200 participants, along with a companion (spouse, guardian, or relative), will be invited via e-invitation to attend the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort, New Delhi, on 15th August 2025.
