Chandigarh, September 7 – Schools and colleges across Punjab will reopen tomorrow after days of closure caused by heavy rain and floods. The state Education Minister announced the decision in a message shared on social media, stressing safety measures and clear timelines for reopening.
Schools and Colleges Resume from Tomorrow
The minister confirmed that all government, private and aided schools, colleges, and universities across Punjab will open as normal from tomorrow. However, institutions still affected by floods may remain closed at the discretion of the district administration. The final call will rest with the Deputy Commissioner of each district.

Safety Is Mandatory for Private Institutions
Private school administrators have been instructed to ensure that their school buildings and classrooms are completely safe. The Education Minister emphasized that the safety of students and teachers is non-negotiable and must be guaranteed before reopening.
September 8 Declared a Cleaning Day
On September 8, all government schools will remain closed for students. Teachers, however, must be present at schools to supervise cleaning and sanitisation work, which will be carried out with the support of School Management Committees, Panchayats, Municipal Councils, and Corporations.
