Punjab Government Orders Summer Vacation Closure of Schools Amid Intense Heat
In view of the rising extreme heat in Punjab and a warning issued by the Meteorological Department, the Punjab government has taken a major decision.
All government, aided, recognised, and private schools in the state will remain closed from June 2 to June 30, 2025, as part of the summer vacation schedule.
In response to a severe heatwave, all government, aided, recognized, and private schools in Punjab will close for summer vacation from June 2 to June 30, 2025.
Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the decision on Monday through a tweet on X (formerly Twitter). An official order or notice will soon be issued by the Punjab government.
The move comes as temperatures continue to rise across the state, posing serious health risks to children and school staff. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in parts of Punjab, warning of continued extreme heat next week.

This move by the state government has been taken keeping in mind the health and safety of students, parents, and teachers. Authorities say the early summer break is a precaution to protect students from heat-related illnesses.
Parents and schools have been asked to follow the revised calendar and stay alert for any further updates from the education department.
