New Delhi, May 12, 2025: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has released a press note on civil aircraft operations. The temporary closure of 32 civilian airports, which started from May 9, 2025, has now been lifted till May 15, 2025. This decision was taken for airspace safety reasons and now all commercial flight operations have resumed at all these airports.

As per the initial order, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other concerned aviation regulatory bodies had announced temporary closure of 32 airports, which included major airports in Northern and Western India. These airports are located at Srinagar, Jammu, Udhampur, Ambala, Jalandhar, Leh, and Chandigarh. The restriction was imposed from May 9 to May 14, 2025.

Temporary closure of 32 Airports for civil Aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs of 15 May 2025 has been lifted. These Airports are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediate effect. Travellers are advised to check flight status directly with the Airlines and monitor Airline’s websites for regular updates.

As per the new order, these airports have been re-opened for civil aviation services from 12th May 2025. This has brought relief to the passengers and now they can continue their journey with the scheduled flights. Passengers are advised to contact the airlines regarding their flight status and check for updates on their websites.

This change has been implemented by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in coordination with its aviation security agencies and Air Traffic Control (ATC) units to ensure safety of passengers and avoid any disruption.

This decision comes as a relief to the passengers, as now the domestic air services have been restored at these airports. However, passengers are advised to contact the airlines for flight updates.
