UGC NET Result 2024 OUT: Who Qualified and Where to Check UGC NET Result 2024?
The University Grants Commission National Entrance Test (UGC NET) December 2024 result is finally out! The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the scorecard and cut-off on its official website – ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Candidates who appeared for the exam can now download their results and the final answer key from the portal.
How Was the UGC NET December 2024 Exam Conducted?
The UGC NET December 2024 exam was held from January 3 to January 27, spanning nine days and 16 shifts. The exam took place in 558 centres across 266 cities and saw a total of 8,49,166 candidates registering for the test. The mode of the exam was Computer-Based Test (CBT).
How to Download UGC NET Result 2024?
Follow these simple steps to check your UGC NET result:
- Visit the official website – ugcnet.nta.ac.in
- Click on the UGC NET result link on the homepage
- A new login page will appear
- Enter your application number and date of birth
- View and download your scorecard
- Take a printout for future reference
Can You Request a Re-evaluation?
No. The UGC NET result is final, and the NTA does not allow re-evaluation or re-checking. The results are prepared strictly based on the final answer key.
If a question was found to be incorrect, unclear, or had multiple correct answers, marks were awarded only to candidates who attempted the question and chose one of the correct answers. As per NTA policy, if any question was incorrect or dropped, two marks (+2) were awarded to candidates who attempted it.
How Many Candidates Qualified for UGC NET 2024?
Out of 8,49,166 candidates who registered, a total of 6,49,490 appeared for the exam. The results show:
- 5,158 candidates qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professorship
- 48,161 candidates qualified for Assistant Professorship and PhD admissions
- 1,14,445 candidates qualified for PhD only

Candidates who cleared the JRF and Assistant Professorship can now apply for teaching and research positions in universities across India. Those who qualified for Assistant Professorship and PhD admissions can proceed with their doctoral studies.
