SAIL partners with John Cockerill India to revolutionize steelmaking with green technologies, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and advanced processes.
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna and India’s largest public sector steel producer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL), the Indian arm of the global John Cockerill Group, in Mumbai.
This partnership aims to combine the strengths of both companies—including advanced technologies, extensive industry expertise, and a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability. The MoU was signed by Mr. Anil Kumar Tulsiani, Director (Finance) of SAIL, and Mr. Michael Kotas, Managing Director of the Metals Division at John Cockerill India Limited.
The collaboration will focus on key areas such as Cold Rolling and Processing for Carbon Steel, Green Steel, and Silicon Steel, specifically CRGO (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented) and CRNO (Cold Rolled Non-Oriented) steels. Moreover, the partnership seeks to integrate green technologies into iron and steelmaking processes while leveraging advanced steelmaking technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
SAIL remains dedicated to transforming traditional iron and steelmaking practices by adopting advanced, eco-friendly technologies. With a strong focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving resource efficiency, SAIL is aligning its operations to meet the evolving demands of a dynamic market while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
