What is Veer Gatha Project?
Veer Gatha Project, launched in 2021, aims to spread awareness about the brave acts of gallantry award winners and inspire values of patriotism and civic responsibility among students. The project allows students to express their creativity through poems, essays, drawings, paintings, short videos, and multimedia presentations.
Who Can Participate in Veer Gatha 5.0?
The competition is open to students from Classes 3 to 12, divided into three categories:
- Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5): Poems, short paragraphs (150 words), drawings, and paintings.
- Middle Stage (Grades 6–8): Poems, paragraphs (300 words), drawings, paintings, multimedia presentations, or short videos.
- Secondary Stage (Grades 9–12): Essays (750 words), poems, drawings, paintings, multimedia presentations, or short videos.
What are the Suggested Topics?
Students may choose topics such as:
- Life lessons from a Gallantry Award winner.
- Stories of supreme sacrifice by soldiers.
- The spirit and military strategies of Indian warriors like Shivaji, Prithviraj Chauhan, or heroes of the 1857 War of Independence.
What are the Timelines?
- 11 to 30 September 2025: Schools must conduct activities and interactions with gallantry award winners.
- 1 to 15 October 2025: Each school will upload the best 4 entries (one from each category) on the MyGov portal.
How Will Winners Be Selected?
- National Level (Super 100): 100 winners will be honoured — 25 from Classes 3–5, 25 from Classes 6–8, and 50 from Classes 9–12.
- State/UT Level: 8 winners will be chosen.
- District Level: 4 winners will be recognised.
Winners at the national level will receive ₹10,000 each, awarded jointly by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education. Winners at state and district levels will be felicitated by local education authorities.
