Who Are the Arrested Spies and How Were They Caught?
Amritsar News- Tensions between India and Pakistan have spiked once again after the Pahalgam terror attack. Amid this sensitive backdrop, a major spying scandal has come to light from Punjab’s Amritsar district.
Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two individuals—Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih—for allegedly passing on sensitive military information to Pakistan. According to the police, the duo was leaking classified details about the Amritsar Army cantonment and the nearby Air Force base to Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.
Giving this information, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigation reveals their links to Pakistani intelligence operatives, established through Harpreet Singh alias Pittu alias Happy, currently lodged in Amritsar Central Jail. Happy is believed to have acted as the middleman, helping Pakistani handlers connect with the accused from inside the prison.
How the Spies Got Caught and What Happens Next
Police sources say that surveillance teams had been monitoring suspicious communication patterns for weeks. After confirming the link to Pakistani agencies, the authorities moved quickly and arrested both suspects.
Security officials believe this may be part of a larger espionage network operating in the region. Further interrogation has been going on and more arrests are expected as the investigation deepens.
The arrests happened after the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, where 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives.
