CBSE Directs Schools to Celebrate International Yoga Day 2025 with Workshops, Quizzes and Mass Events
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important circular directing all affiliated schools to celebrate the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 with full enthusiasm and active participation.
This news article shares complete details of the circular so that students, teachers and parents understand what activities schools must organise and how everyone can get involved.
The United Nations recognises 21st June as the International Day of Yoga, which has gained popularity globally for promoting a healthy lifestyle and well-being. To mark the day, the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has launched an updated portal (https://yoga.ayush.gov.in/yoga-sangam) where schools and the public can find digital resources, guidelines, and updates on Yoga Day activities.
What Activities Should Schools Organise for Yoga Day?
CBSE has suggested various activities for schools to ensure meaningful celebrations:
1. Workshops and Seminars: Schools should organise Yoga workshops and seminars for both students and teachers to spread awareness and encourage them to practise Yoga regularly.
2. Mass Yoga Demonstrations: On 21st June, schools may conduct mass Yoga demonstrations following the Common Yoga Protocol. Videos in 22 Indian languages can be accessed here:
Yoga Protocol Playlist.
3. Competitions and Contests: Schools should organise Quiz and Essay Writing competitions based on Yoga to engage students creatively. Students and staff must also be encouraged to participate in national-level IDY contests on the MyGov platform (www.mygov.in), including E-Poster, Yog Geet/Jingle, and Essay Contests for 2025.
4. School Publications: Schools are advised to publish Yoga-related articles in their newsletters, bulletins, and magazines to highlight the importance of Yoga and IDY.
5. Yoga Quiz and Apps: The Ministry of Ayush, with MyGov, is hosting a dedicated Yoga Quiz (Participate here). Additionally, students and teachers can download the Namaste Yoga App for yoga classes, event updates, and health tracking:

How Should Schools Report the Activities?
Schools must follow State or UT Government guidelines regarding summer vacations while planning events. A short report with 2–3 photos of the celebrations must be uploaded at: Activity Report Form.
CBSE has urged all schools, students, teachers and parents to participate actively and make International Day of Yoga 2025 a grand success across India.
