CBSE Asks Schools to Encourage Maximum Student Participation in Essay, Painting and Online Quiz Competitions
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all affiliated schools to encourage students to take part in online competitions and activities organised for the Independence Day Ceremony 2026.
The Ministry of Defence is conducting these activities in association with MyGov and MyBharat. CBSE said the initiative aims to encourage patriotic feelings among school children, youth and the public. Schools also need to submit participation details through the Google Form shared in the circular.

Competitions Included in the Circular
The Ministry of Defence will organise an Essay Competition, a Painting Contest and a Series of Online Quiz Contests on MyGov and MyBharat platforms. The circular includes the schedule, themes, eligibility, prizes and participation conditions for each activity.

Essay Competition Details
The essay competition focuses on the role of Artificial Intelligence in building a developed India by 2047. The top three shortlisted winners will receive a cash prize of ₹15,000 each. The top 200 participants, along with one companion, will receive an e-invitation to attend the Independence Day Celebration at Red Fort, Delhi, on 15 August 2026.
Painting Contest Details
The painting contest asks participants to present India’s journey from 1947 to 2047. The top three shortlisted winners will receive ₹15,000 each, while 20 consolation prizes of ₹5,000 each will also be awarded.
The top 200 participants will receive an e-invitation to witness the Independence Day Celebration at Red Fort with one companion.
Online Quiz Details
The online quiz series will take place in both Hindi and English. Each quiz will last 5 minutes and include a maximum of 20 questions. The organisers will select winners based on their combined performance in all four quizzes.
The top three winners will receive ₹15,000 each, and 50 consolation prizes of ₹5,000 each will also be awarded. Every participant will receive an online participation certificate from MyGov.
Eligibility and Important Conditions
The circular states that Indian citizens can participate in these competitions. Participants can submit only one entry for the essay and painting competitions and one attempt for each quiz. Participants must use a valid mobile number and email address because organisers will send all future communication through email.

One mobile number and one email ID cannot be used by more than one participant for the same competition or quiz. The Ministry of Defence will announce winners after the screening process.

Invitation to Independence Day Ceremony
The organisers will invite the top 200 participants from each competition category to attend the Independence Day Celebration at Red Fort, Delhi, on 15 August 2026 with one companion. Participants will bear their own travel, lodging and food expenses.
However, they can travel free on the Delhi Metro on the day of the parade by showing their e-invitation at any Delhi Metro station.
CBSE’s Direction to Schools
CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to encourage maximum student participation in these competitions and activities. The Board has also asked schools to submit participation details through the Google Form link provided in the circular.
