Why is CIET-NCERT Organising This Programme?
According to the programme document, NEP 2020 aims to build an education system that is equitable, inclusive, holistic and learner-centred. The policy focuses on providing equal educational opportunities to every learner regardless of socio-economic background, gender, language, disability or geographical location.
The policy gives special attention to Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs). It recognises that historical, social, cultural, economic and geographical disadvantages continue to affect access to quality education. The training programme will help participants understand these challenges and learn practical strategies to promote equitable and inclusive education.
Who Are SEDGs?
NEP 2020 identifies several groups under the category of Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs), including:
- Gender identities
- Socio-cultural identities
- Geographical identities
- Persons with disabilities
- Learners facing socio-economic disadvantages
The policy also states that improving access alone is not enough. Education must also ensure participation, retention and meaningful learning outcomes for every learner.
Objectives of the Training Programme
The programme aims to help participants:
- Understand the vision, principles and reforms introduced under NEP 2020.
