The Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) 2025 campaign has been announced from 17th September 2025 leading up to Swachh Bharat Diwas (SBD) on 2nd October 2025, which is celebrated as a tribute to the Father of the Nation on his Jayanti. The theme of SHS 2025 is “Swachhotsav”.

- Transformation of Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) with mapping and cleaning of dirty spots.
- Clean Public Spaces to ensure hygiene in schools, hostels, and institutions.
- SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivirs for health check-ups and welfare linkages.
- Clean Green Utsav with eco-friendly, zero-waste celebrations.
- Advocacy activities such as Swachh Sujal Gaon, Waste to Art, Clean Street Food, and RRR Centers.
What activities will schools organize under SHS 2025?
CBSE has directed schools to conduct a variety of school-based and community-based initiatives to raise awareness about cleanliness. These include:
- Swachhta Shapath taken by students and teachers.
- Cleanliness drives in schools, hostels, and educational institutions.
- Essay, poem, debate, slogan writing, quiz, and painting competitions on Swachhotsav, waste management, and elimination of single-use plastic.
- Selfie points at school entry gates to promote pride in cleanliness.
- Human chain events with students, teachers, and communities.
- Street plays (nukkad natak) in schools or nearby areas.
- Plantation of saplings in school and hostel premises.
- Awareness rallies and prabhat pheris with slogans on Swachhotsav.
- Cultural events showcasing India’s sanitation journey.
- Swachhata Classes, Pathshaala, and Samvad on hygiene practices.
- Health check-up camps for sanitation workers and their families.
What is the importance of Shramdaan in SHS 2025?
To expand outreach, CBSE has instructed schools to document all activities with photography and videography for social media engagement. Like the previous year, a nationwide Shramdaan activity “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” will be organized on 25th September 2025, calling citizens to join hands for the nation’s cleanliness.
