CBSE Expression Series 2 Announced – Students from Classes 3 to 12 Can Participate, Submit Entries by November 20!

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the launch of its second Expression Series for the 2025–26 academic session, themed “Farming for a Future-Sustaining Rural India.”

The initiative encourages students from Classes 3 to 12 to participate in creative competitions that promote awareness about agriculture, sustainability, and rural development.

Encouraging Creative Expression Among Students

The Expression Series is designed to help students express their thoughts through essays, poems, and paintings on topics related to India’s rural life, agriculture, and sustainability.

According to CBSE, the competition will be conducted in four categories, allowing participation from the primary (Classes 3–5) to the senior secondary level (Classes 11–12).

Students can submit their entries through their schools by November 20, 2025. The selection will be carried out at the school, regional, and national levels in two stages.

Four Participation Categories

The Expression Series 2 will be open in the following categories:

  1. Primary (Classes 3–5): My Village, My Pride and Our Farmers – Our Strength
  2. Middle (Classes 6–8): Journey of Food – From Farms to Our Plates, Bridging Rural and Urban India
  3. Secondary (Classes 9–10): Sustainable Agriculture and Youth’s Role in Rural Development
  4. Senior Secondary (Classes 11–12): Agri-Based Industry – The Future of India’s Development

Each category will focus on one specific theme and activity type (essay, poem, or painting).

Selection and Evaluation Process

Every school can choose four best entries, one from each category, and submit them to the CBSE regional level. From these, the top 10 entries from each region will be shortlisted and further evaluated at the national level. The final three entries from across the country will be selected as national winners.

Students can submit their work in both English and Hindi. The entries will be judged on creativity, originality, expression, and relevance to the theme.

Objective of the Series

The Expression Series aims to inspire students to engage with real-world issues such as agriculture, food security, and sustainable livelihoods.
It provides a platform for young learners to reflect on India’s rural heritage, the role of farmers, and the importance of balancing growth between cities and villages.

CBSE has also directed schools to motivate maximum participation and ensure that students submit entries well before the deadline.

A. Conduct at the School Level
1. Schedule for School-Level CompetitionSchools must organize the Expression Series between 07 November 2025 and 20 November 2025 during school hours.
2. Communication to StudentsSchools should inform all students about the Expression Series and encourage maximum participation.
3. Format of EntriesStudents must submit their work (Essay/Paragraph/Poem) using the official format provided in Annexure I.
4. Language OptionsSubmissions can be written in Hindi or English.
5. Evaluation at School LevelSchools should evaluate all entries and shortlist one best entry per class category — a total of four entries per school.
6. Certification RequirementEach shortlisted entry must be certified by the Head of the Institution or Teacher In-Charge, confirming that the work is original.
B. Submission of Shortlisted Entries to CBSE
1. Submission DatesSchools must upload shortlisted entries from 20 November 2025 to 30 November 2025.
2. Mode of SubmissionEntries must be submitted via the CBSE Expression Series App (available on the Google Play Store) using an Android phone.
3. Submission GuidelinesSchools should refer to Annexure II for detailed instructions on how to upload entries.
4. Certificate of ParticipationAfter successful submission, each participant can download an online participation certificate through the CBSE Expression Series App.
5. Regional Level SelectionEach CBSE Region will select the 10 best entries in every category for national-level evaluation.
6. National Level WinnersWinners at the National Level will receive an online Merit Certificate from CBSE, sent to their registered email address.
