The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Reading Challenge 2025-26, an important initiative designed to foster a love for reading while enhancing literacy, comprehension, and critical thinking skills among students.

This challenge gives students from Classes 6 to 10 a unique opportunity to build higher-order skills such as synthesizing information, drawing logical conclusions, and evaluating the credibility of texts.

Notably, there is no fee for participation, making it a free and enriching activity for all CBSE-affiliated schools.

What are the Key Details of the Reading Challenge 2025-26?

The challenge will run during August, September, and October 2025, and will be conducted in two rounds.

First Round (School Level)

  • Schools will register students between 18 August to 1 September 2025.
  • CBSE will provide question papers and scoring criteria from 8 to 11 September 2025.
  • The challenge will be held offline at the school level.
  • Schools must select the top 10 performing students (two from each class, Classes 6–10, across Hindi and English).

Second Round (CBSE Level)

  • Schools will nominate their top 10 performers by 15–26 September 2025.
  • The online round will be held on 8, 9, 13, and 14 October 2025 through the official CBSE Reading Challenge portal.
  • Students can participate in either Hindi or English, but only one student per class per language will be allowed.

What Recognition Will Students Receive?

CBSE has confirmed that:

  • All students participating in the second round will receive an online Participation Certificate.
  • Outstanding performers will be awarded a Certificate of Appreciation.
