CSIR-NIScPR has opened entries for Science Creativity Competition 2026. Check categories, eligibility, themes and the last date to apply.
The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi has announced the Science Creativity Competition 2026 to celebrate 75 years of Vigyan Pragati. The competition invites participants to showcase their creativity through science fiction writing and Scientoon. The competition will remain open from 18 July 2026 to 30 July 2026.
Competition Aims to Promote Creative Science Communication
The competition encourages participants to express their scientific ideas through creative writing and illustrations. According to the announcement, the initiative marks the 75th anniversary of Vigyan Pragati and provides an opportunity for participants to share their creative work with readers across the country.
Competition Categories
The competition includes two categories:
- Science Fiction Writing Competition
- Scientoon Competition
Science Fiction Writing Competition
The Science Fiction Writing Competition is open to participants above 14 years of age.
Participants must submit an original story written in Hindi. The story should not have been published or submitted elsewhere earlier. Participants may write on topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, climate change, biotechnology, energy, medicine or any other scientific subject.
The story may also include new scientific ideas or future possibilities. The word limit is 2,500 to 3,000 words. Each participant can submit only one entry. Entries containing plagiarism or copyright violations will be rejected. The decision of the judges will be final. Selected works will be published in Vigyan Pragati.
Scientoon Competition
The Scientoon Competition has two age groups:
- Group I: Above 14 years
- Group II: Above 25 years
The topic for Group I is “2050 Ki Ek Subah” (A Morning in 2050).
The topic for Group II is “Social Media Par Vigyan: Janche, Phir Mane” (Science on Social Media: Verify Before You Believe).
Participants must submit an original Scientoon based on the given theme. The scientific information should be accurate and presented with humour while delivering a scientific message. Entries should not contain offensive comments about any individual, community or organisation.
