LIC Introduces WhatsApp Premium Payment to Boost Customer Convenience
New Delhi. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched a new online facility to make premium payments easier for its customers. From 9th May 2025, LIC customers can now pay their policy premium using WhatsApp.
This new service was launched by LIC’s CEO and MD, Mr. Siddhartha Mohanty, along with senior LIC officials like Mr. M. Jagannath, Mr. Tablesh Pandey, Mr. Sat Pal Bhanoo, and Mr. R. Doraiswamy.

Now, LIC customers who are registered on the customer portal can send a message to WhatsApp number 8976862090. They will get details of policies that are due for payment and can pay directly using UPI, net banking, or cards — all inside WhatsApp. The full process, from finding due premiums to payment and getting a receipt, happens through the WhatsApp bot.

Mr. Mohanty said that this service will help LIC customers pay their premiums anytime and from anywhere. It will save time and make things easier using WhatsApp, a platform that most people use every day. This step will also improve LIC’s service and efficiency.

LIC’s customer portal already serves more than 2.2 crore policyholders. Over 3 lakh people use it every day for different online services.
