How did the administration respond?
Soon after the video went viral, the matter reached Katni Collector Dilip Kumar Yadav, who took immediate notice. He ordered a detailed inquiry and instructed the District Education Officer (DEO) to take strict action. The video was reportedly brought to the Collector’s attention on Friday, and he wasted no time in initiating the official procedure.
How was the teacher identified?
Under the Collector’s instructions, DEO P.P. Singh sent the video to education officers across all six development blocks in the district to identify the teacher. After reviewing the video, officials from the Barwara block confirmed the identity of the accused. The teacher was identified as Lal Naveen Singh, who is posted at Government Primary School, Purani Basti Khirhni, under the Government Higher Secondary School, Barhi Sankul Kendra.
What action was taken against the teacher?
Once the teacher’s identity was confirmed, the District Education Officer immediately suspended him, as per the Collector’s orders. The suspension order stated that encouraging students to consume alcohol and offering them liquor is a serious offence and an act of gross misconduct. It also mentioned that such actions damage the dignity and honour of the teaching profession.
