National-level sessions to strengthen digital safety in schools and educational institutions
A five-day online training programme titled “Data Privacy and Protection” will be held from December 08 to 12, 2025, aiming to sensitise school stakeholders on digital safety, responsible data handling, and cyber protection. The programme will be conducted in Hindi, following its earlier English edition, and will focus on strengthening awareness around institutional and personal data security in educational settings.
The initiative is being jointly organised by the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET)-NCERT, Ministry of Education, and the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA)-C-DAC, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Each session will be streamed live from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday) on NCERT’s official YouTube channel and PM eVidya channels.
Growing Concerns Over Digital Vulnerability
In today’s digital environment, educational institutions store and exchange large volumes of sensitive data. Schools routinely use online platforms to manage academic information, student records, administrative files, and communication systems.
While digital platforms enhance convenience and operational efficiency, risks such as data leaks, unauthorised access, ransomware attacks and misuse of personal details pose serious threats to individuals and institutions.

The training will address core issues such as cyberattacks, weak authentication practices, and unethical data-sharing behaviour—factors that compromise trust in digital learning systems. Officials state that strengthening literacy in secure digital practices is now an essential part of professional responsibilities in schools.
A senior resource member noted that teachers, heads of institutions and administrators “must understand foundational principles of data privacy, review their existing systems, and adopt safe data-handling practices to protect both individual and institutional integrity.”
Alignment with NEP 2020 and Institutional Accountability
The programme aligns closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which highlights responsible technology use, cyber awareness, and digital safety in schools. NEP 2020 (Para 23.6) emphasises integrating cyber security into teacher training and school administration.
The upcoming sessions aim to demonstrate practical approaches to protect institutional information, secure communication channels, and encourage safe technology usage among students, staff, and parents. Educators will receive exposure to systematic approaches such as encryption, controlled data access, regular audits, and accountability practices.

The event will feature daily training sessions delivered by technical experts from C-DAC across different centres. The schedule is as follows:

The course link will be published on the final day of the event and will remain accessible until 15 March 2026. Participants are required to complete five modules, watch designated videos, and attempt the final assessment. Those scoring 70 per cent or above will receive a digital certificate via their DIKSHA profile within 15–20 days.
Additionally, participants must submit feedback to help organisers assess training effectiveness and enhance future programmes.
