NCERT CIET Free Online Training Session
In an effort to integrate innovation and technology into the education system, the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), NCERT conducted an online training session on 19 May 2025 under the theme “Integration of Virtual Labs in Teaching-Learning and Assessment.”
The ncert training session was part of a broader series initiated to align with the NEP 2020 objectives, which strongly emphasise learning by doing and practical engagement in classrooms.
The focus of the 19 May session was on the subject of Physics, aiming to introduce educators to the possibilities of virtual laboratories in enhancing science instruction. The session was led by Dr Uma D. Sharma, Academic Consultant at CIET-NCERT, who provided in-depth insights into how virtual simulations can help students understand physics concepts through online experimentation.
This training, held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, was broadcast live on NCERT’s official YouTube channel and various government-supported platforms including PM eVidya channels (6 to 12), DD Free Dish, and others. It was designed for a wide audience including students, teachers, teacher educators, parents, and education administrators.
Key Highlights from the NCERT CIET Training Session
Details | Information |
---|---|
Date of the Session | 19 May 2025 (Thursday) |
Topic | Use of Virtual Labs in Physics Teaching and Assessment |
Speaker | Dr Uma D. Sharma, Academic Consultant, CIET-NCERT |
Timing | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM (IST) |
Platforms | YouTube, PM eVidya (Channels #6–12), DD Free Dish #128, others |
Objective | To promote practical, hands-on learning through virtual labs |
During the session, it was clearly outlined how virtual labs not only support curriculum objectives but also foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. These labs allow learners to perform experiments virtually rather than merely reading or watching content. This approach offers a richer and more participatory learning experience.
The speaker also stressed the role of teachers in integrating such resources effectively in classrooms. By engaging in simulations and interactive tools, both students and educators can benefit from more flexible, inquiry-driven, and student-centric pedagogy.
