CIET-NCERT has organised a focused Media Literacy training to equip school communities with the skills to recognise misinformation, evaluate sources, and create ethical media content.
The board says the training responds directly to the NEP 2020 emphasis on critical digital and media skills, which are essential for learners navigating today’s information ecosystem.
The sessions will run from 13 to 17 October 2025, each day from 4 PM to 5 PM, and will stream live on NCERT’s official YouTube channel.
Objectives and scope of the NCERT training
The series will help participants to identify credible information, spot fake news and biased content, analyse media messages for purpose and audience, and adopt safe digital practices to protect privacy and reputation.
Organisers state that the goal is not only to teach media consumption skills but also to enable learners to create responsible media — aligning with NEP’s vision of producing informed and ethical digital citizens.
Who should attend and how sessions are structured?
The training invites students, teachers, parents, administrators and all interested individuals. Each one-hour session features a domain expert and covers a distinct topic: media landscape, media skills, advertising literacy, news literacy and game literacy.
Participants can watch the live stream and later enrol in a related DIKSHA course for certification.
Schedule, speakers and delivery platforms
The programme brings together academics from IIMC and JNU. Speakers include Dr. Namit Vikram, Prof. Anubhuti Yadav, Dr. Meeta Ujjain, Dr. Pawan Koundal, and Dr. Archana Kumari.
NCERT will broadcast sessions via its YouTube channel and through PM eVIDYA channels, DD Free Dish, DISH TV and Jio TV. Recordings will be available as a playlist for later viewing.

How to register and get certified?
Participants must register via the Google Form supplied in the circular. The sessions stream live; those aiming for certification must join the DIKSHA course when it launches (link will be posted on the event page on the final day).
Learners must view all five videos and complete the final assessment; they may attempt the assessment thrice and must secure a minimum of 70% to earn the certificate. NCERT notes that certificates may take 15–20 days to appear in DIKSHA profiles.
What official guidance supports the programme?
The circular cites NEP 2020, which emphasises media literacy as a critical competency, stating that learners should be able to “check the source of information, compare it with other reliable sources, and identify bias or hidden agendas.” CIET-NCERT positions the training as a practical step to implement those NEP objectives within school education.
How can participants register and where will sessions stream?
Participants must register via the Google Form URL provided in the circular.
Live sessions will stream on NCERT Official YouTube and will also telecast on:
- PM eVIDYA Channels #6–12,

NCERT will launch a follow-up DIKSHA course for learners who want certification.
The DIKSHA course link will appear on the event page on the final day (by 7:00 PM).
The course will remain open until 15 March 2026.
Participants must watch all five videos, then take the final assessment (up to 3 attempts).
Those who score 70% or above will receive a DIKSHA certificate, viewable in their DIKSHA profile.
NCERT notes that certificates may take 15–20 days to appear after successful completion.
