New Delhi, 10 June 2025 — In a major step towards transforming school education in India, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced seven new learning modules for Classes 1 to 12. These modules are designed not only to deliver textbook knowledge, but also to connect students with real-life skills, national identity, and emotional well-being.
This educational initiative is expected to make learning more practical, enjoyable, and meaningful for students across the country. With this new approach, classrooms will no longer focus only on marks, but will also nurture understanding, creativity, and awareness.

Children Will Now Explore the Digital World at School
As part of the new curriculum, the first module titled ‘Digital India’ will introduce students to basic digital tools and platforms. Even at the nursery level, children will be encouraged to learn about UPI payments, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Ayushman Bharat, and the UMANG app.
These topics will be taught using simple stories and visual examples. Students will gradually understand how to make digital payments and how these platforms work. The goal is to prepare every child to become a smart digital citizen from the beginning of their education.
Focus on Mental Health and Emotional Strength
Another important addition is a module on Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being. It aims to help students handle exam pressure, academic stress, and emotional challenges more effectively. Through this module, children will learn how to manage their emotions and how to access the Tele-MANAS mental health helpline when needed.
The idea is to create an environment where students feel that learning is a celebration, not a burden. Teachers will guide students on how to study with joy and focus, instead of fear and anxiety.
Teaching Democracy and Voting from a Young Age
The third module focuses on Democracy and Elections. It helps students understand how India became the world’s largest democracy and how elections are successfully conducted. Through this, students will be able to learn about their rights and responsibilities as future citizens.
The module also aims to strengthen civic knowledge among children, so that they can confidently answer questions about the functioning of India’s democratic system.
Learning How to Handle Emergencies Like COVID-19
NCERT has also included a module that prepares students to deal with public health emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic. Students will learn about safety precautions, emergency responses, and how to protect themselves and others during any such situation in the future.

By learning these lessons in school, students will become more aware and prepared to handle real-world emergencies.
Clean India Campaign Gets a Fun Twist
To teach children the importance of cleanliness, NCERT has created a module under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. A cartoon character named Swachhta Jadugar (Cleanliness Wizard) will explain the correct use of coloured dustbins in a fun and memorable way.
This module will help children understand how they can contribute to keeping their homes, schools, and cities clean.
Sports and Pride in Indian Culture Now Part of Syllabus
NCERT has also added a Sports module, where students will read stories of Indian athletes such as Neeraj Chopra and Manu Bhaker. It also links students to the Khelo India movement, encouraging them to play sports and stay active.
Additionally, the final module focuses on Indian Heritage and Culture. Through examples like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and Konark Sun Temple, children will learn about India’s rich history and why it’s important to take pride in our roots.

The traditional saying, “If you study, you’ll succeed, but if you play, you’ll fail” is being replaced with a new message: “Study and succeed, and play and succeed too.”
