NCERT–CIET to conduct a five-day YouTube live series from January 19 to train teachers on ethical and practical use of AI in education
The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced a five-day YouTube Live Series titled “Empowering Teachers with AI – Phase III”, aimed at strengthening teachers’ understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its responsible use in education.
The programme is being organised at a time when Artificial Intelligence is rapidly influencing teaching, assessment, and school management systems. While AI offers opportunities such as personalised learning and improved efficiency, NCERT–CIET has emphasised the importance of addressing challenges related to bias, transparency, data protection, and ethical use. The series seeks to help educators balance innovation with responsibility.
Emphasis on responsible and ethical AI use
The training programme underlines that AI integration in education is not only a technological shift but also a pedagogical and institutional responsibility. Sessions will focus on helping teachers understand core AI concepts, recognise potential risks such as algorithmic bias and over-automation, and ensure that human oversight remains central to decision-making in classrooms.
The organisers have highlighted that improving AI literacy among teachers and school leaders is essential to ensure that AI tools support learning outcomes rather than undermine equity, academic integrity, or student autonomy.
Alignment with national education vision
The YouTube live series is aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework. It aims to equip teachers, school leaders, and administrators with practical knowledge of AI while promoting a culture where innovation and ethics go hand in hand.
The sessions are designed to simplify AI concepts and demonstrate how technology can meaningfully support classroom instruction and institutional practices.
Schedule and broadcast details
The training will be conducted from 19 January to 23 January 2026, with live sessions scheduled daily from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM. The sessions will be broadcast live on NCERT’s Official YouTube Channel and simulcast on PM eVidya DTH TV Channels (6–12) and the Jio TV mobile application. Recorded sessions will also be available through a dedicated YouTube playlist.
