NESTS Organizes Manthan Shivir to Boost Tribal Education and EMRS Management
The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) successfully organized the Manthan Shivir in New Delhi on Friday, November 29, 2024. The event brought together State Nodal Officers from 22 states for an in-depth brainstorming session aimed at strengthening the management of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). The focus was on enhancing the quality of education and infrastructure for tribal students.
What was the purpose of the Manthan Shivir?
The Shivir, chaired by NESTS Commissioner Shri Ajeet Kumar Srivastava, facilitated robust discussions on critical aspects of tribal education. Key topics included improvements in the examination system, admissions, recruitment, infrastructure development, and financial management. These discussions were geared toward transforming the educational landscape for tribal students across India.
What did the Commissioner highlight during the event?
In his address, the Commissioner highlighted the natural talents of tribal students in areas such as sports, arts, culture, education, and innovation. He emphasized that with collective and focused efforts, these students could achieve new milestones and make significant contributions to various fields. He also reaffirmed NESTS’ commitment to collaborating with multiple stakeholders to enhance the performance of EMRSs and the facilities provided to tribal students nationwide.
How is the EMRS initiative progressing?
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the EMRS initiative. Currently, 476 EMRSs are operational across the country, with plans to establish over 100 additional schools in the coming year. This expansion will greatly increase access to quality education for underserved tribal children in remote areas.
The recruitment process was another highlight, with the first phase successfully completed, leading to the posting of more than 9,000 teaching and non-teaching staff members. Discussions also focused on planning and executing the next phase of recruitment.
What suggestions were provided by the State Nodal Officers?
State Nodal Officers actively participated in the Shivir, offering valuable suggestions for strengthening EMRS management and improving the quality of facilities for students. These insights will be integrated into future plans to ensure tribal students receive world-class education and essential resources for their growth.
The Manthan Shivir underscored NESTS’ unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and sustainable education system for tribal students, ensuring their holistic development and empowering them to thrive in diverse domains.
