The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a new circular (No. Acad-77/2025, dated 10 October 2025) announcing the National Level Selection Trials for students who wish to represent CBSE in the SGFI National School Games for the academic year 2025–26.
These selection trials will be conducted for Karate (Boys & Girls) and Wrestling (Free-style, Boys & Girls).
This announcement comes after CBSE’s official affiliation with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) on 8 July 2024, which enables CBSE national winners to compete at the SGFI National School Games every year.

What Are the Rules for Participation?
The rules for both Karate and Wrestling events will be the same as prescribed by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
CBSE has mentioned that age and weight categories will follow SGFI standards and have been shared in Annexure 1 of the official circular.
How Can Schools Send Entries for the Selection Trials?
Interested schools are required to send the entries of their eligible students directly to the organizing schools via email at least one week before the event.
This ensures proper accommodation and logistical arrangements by the host institutions.
Each participating school must ensure that students are accompanied by qualified Physical Education Teachers or Coaches during the event.

The organizing schools will provide accommodation, bedding, and meals for all participating teams and individuals.
Each participant will need to pay ₹500 per day to the organizing school — this covers all meals and accommodation during the event.
