NCERT free online AI training programme for teachers in January 2026 to support classroom innovation and ethical AI use.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), through its Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), has announced a five-hour online training series titled “Leveraging AI for Transforming School Education”. The programme is being organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and is scheduled to be conducted in January 2026 for teachers and other education stakeholders across the country.
The online training will be held from 19 to 23 January 2026 in the English version and from 26 to 30 January 2026 in the Hindi version. Each session will run daily from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, making the programme accessible to educators without disrupting regular school hours.
Context and relevance of the programme
The training programme draws its relevance from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises the strategic use of emerging technologies to improve access, equity, quality, and learning outcomes in school education. Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a significant enabler in this transformation, supporting personalised learning, adaptive instruction, assessment reform, learner support, and data-informed decision-making.
Aligned with the perspectives outlined in the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS) and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), the integration of AI in schools is seen as a way to promote learner-centric, competency-based, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
NCERT has underlined that AI is intended to support teachers by strengthening their instructional capabilities rather than replacing the human element of teaching.
Programme design and delivery
The five-day training series will be broadcast live on NCERT’s Official YouTube Channel and simulcast on PM e-Vidya DTH TV Channels (6 to 12) and the Jio TV mobile application. To ensure wider reach and flexibility, recorded sessions will also be made available through a dedicated YouTube playlist, allowing participants to revisit key concepts and classroom strategies at their convenience.
National digital initiatives, particularly the DIKSHA platform, will support the post-training learning process and certification. This integration aims to provide a structured ecosystem for professional development and continuous learning among educators.
Objectives of NCERT Trainings
After completion of the training series, the learner will be able to:
- develop foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence, including its key concepts, components, and working principles, among school educators and academic leaders.
- familiarise participants with policy frameworks and governance models guiding responsible AI integration in school education.
- enable the use of AI-driven classroom practices for personalised, adaptive and interactive learning experiences.
- support effective pedagogical integration of AI through practical strategies aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes.
- promote ethical, safe and responsible use of AI, ensuring data privacy, fairness, inclusivity and student well-being.
Session themes and academic inputs
Over the course of five days, the programme will address a range of themes, beginning with the foundations of Artificial Intelligence and progressing to policy frameworks, AI-driven classroom practices, pedagogical integration strategies, and ethical considerations in school education.
The sessions will be delivered by senior academics and experts from universities and national institutions, ensuring academic depth and practical relevance.
